i’d like to thank everyone for being supportive and simply awesome. thank you for your recommendations, those greatly help (even though the list seems never-ending  which is fun and exciting?) without you lovely people (all of you know yourselves), this website wouldn’t survive, so thank you, thank you, thank you.

i have taken interest in pixel/bit art lately, so today’s posts are all related to pixels.

update: jaffat el aqlam

‘jaffat el aqlam’ is a new project i’m working on. it initially started as a way to promote young middle eastern writers (the ones i know), but the idea evolved so fast/i procrastinated so hard that it will also contain a few art pieces (paintings, collages, illustrations etc) and honorable mentions of great arab writers. 

i know i sound like i know what i’m doing, but trust me, it’s going to be really simple (so please don’t expect much), i just want the world to know about these wonderful artists and writers and this is the least i can do to get them out there. 

i’m not in a hurry, i have all semester to work on this and if there ever was a deadline, i will definitely update everyone. 

things i’m going to include in this ebook

• writings: anything and everything. even if it was a haiku or a single line. (arabic or english)
• art pieces: although the project is for writings, i figured some visual breaks are need. anything and everything is acceptable and if you need some sort of inspiration, you can let me know, i can link you to writings and you can represent them visually (sort of a writing/visual collab)
• honorable mentions: you can submit writings by your favorite middle eastern writers, preferably as a text document or a webpage (no images please)
• ebook’s cover: if you have a design in mind, please don’t hesitate to share. i’ll choose one cover and the rest will be in the end of the book (if there are others) as a thank you/honorable mention.

all submissions need to be emailed to [ whaatnext(at)gmail(dot)com ] along with 

1. your name/alias
2. age (optional)
3. where you want your piece to be redirected (blog, twitter, instagram etc.)

any questions about this project (or if you have shy talented friends, please redirect them to me), you can tweet me.

i have already started choosing pieces and i will not publish anything until i get your permission, so you don’t have to worry about that. 

what i need you (reader) to do is reblog, tweet, bbm, whatsapp and instagram this (i don’t usually do this but i would hate for talented people to not get in on this). suggest middle eastern-ers you know and whatnot.

since i clearly/sadly can’t go over ALL recommendations and make posts about them, i’m introducing the guest reviewer tag. everyone recommends so many wonderful things and since not everything is similar to my taste, i thought it would be nice to have recommendations by different people.
