lone survivor (windows) (macOS)

In this psychological survival adventure, the masked protagonist must escape from a city ravaged by disease, by any means necessary. Starving and exhausted, he has begun to question how much of what he sees is even real.

A new kind of adventure where the choice of how to survive is up to you. Sneak through without firing a single shot, or kill everything in your path. Eat and sleep well, or resort to drugs to keep going. Search for survivors, or try to escape the city alone. Look after your mental health, or descend into madness. Lone Survivor is a game where your choices genuinely matter.

another najla recommendation.

i wasn’t so sure about the graphics at first, it looked like blurry pixel art? but after 10 minutes or so (after i got used to the controls), i realized how they’re kinda cool/fresh in a way? also, the game looks like it’s for kids, but there’s gore and 18+ language all over this thing and i really really like that.

give it a go!

limbo (windows) (macOS) (playstation) (xbox)

The primary character in Limbo is a nameless boy who awakens in the middle of a forest on the “edge of hell” (the game’s title is taken from the Latin limbus, meaning “edge”). While seeking his missing sister, he encounters only a few human characters, who either attack him, run away, or are dead (via wikipedia)

i’ve been greatly/frustratingly enjoying this game lately. very dark, intense and i absolutely love the graphics and gameplay.

a huge thank you goes to my friend najla for recommending this.

soundcloud downloader (macOS) - because the internet just keeps on giving and giving and giving

i’ve been on an intense music discovery rampage (if that makes any sense) and most of the songs are from soundcloud. very neat, fast and easy to use.

just make sure you support the artists, tell them how much you love them and appreciate their work.

no windows users, i didn’t forget you. here’s the best windows version i could find, please let me know if it works nicely.

happy hunting!

ps: everything is free!

science:

A Slower Speed of Light is a free little game from the MIT Game Lab. It visually demonstrates the effects of relativity. You move around in the first person picking up orbs which slow down the speed of light—the effect being that your normal walking speed inches ever closer to light speed. When you move faster—or light moves slower—colors begin to morph as the invisible shifts into the visible spectrum, until finally time and space themselves start bending. Very trippy, but based on real physics.

available for macOS and windows

/tears of joy.

yesterday, i added a couple of new albums to my itunes and all of them didn’t have their album’s artwork. for the heck of it, i clicked on the ‘get album artwork’ and bam, artwork found and added.
i’m not sure why i never used this before, i used to spend hours looking for the proper album artworks and upload them manually. i know, most of you might already know this, but for those who didn’t, join the ‘i’m so pissed at the hours i spent doing this manually’ club.
all i did was: select all songs > get album artwork > bam.
everything found gets downloaded from what i’m guessing itunes’ database. i think i was scared because my music IS NOT pirated. wink wink.
anyway, you can make good use of this tool. you might need to edit some music info if they’re not right, but that’s about it.
